And as we return after our Autumn recess and look forward to Christmas, it's interesting to observe how our traditional seasons continue to change, creating the real the prospect of longer growing periods and shorter hibernation times for Plumeria. The key is to recognise and prepare accordingly, as making sure you continue to give your Plumeria care and attention in the off season will reap dividends in the Spring. Our Essential Supplies Catalogue contains everything you need to do this and with Christmas quickly approaching gives you plenty to put on yours and your Plumerias Christmas lists |
|
Now with general weather conditions deteriorating rapidly, it's a good time to decide what will be best for your Plumeria. Some owners prefer the natural approach and put their Plumeria in a warm, dry spot allowing it to slip gently into hibernation. A mantelpiece or sideboard, away from any windows can be a great place for this and ensures your Plumeria is not forgotten. Watering should be reduced right down and SuperThrive added to keep the roots fresh and stop them from completely drying out |
Of course the other alternative is to keep your Plumeria awake and let it celebrate Christmas with you! To do this you must ensure your Plumeria is in an environment constantly above 12 degrees and is exposed to as much sunlight as possible. A sunny windowsill can be great for this, providing its well back from the glass and you do not leave it their overnight. The real key is to move your Plumeria around to ensure it gets the best from available conditions. Supporting this practice with one of our Plumeria Warmers, Natural Daylight Bulbs and Leafdew Plumeria Mist is an excellent way to achieve this and ensure your Plumeria has everything it needs to continue growing strongly throughout the long winter months |
Whichever your chosen option, ensuring you get your watering right is absolutely crucial. When dormant, Plumerias just need a few drops each month to keep their medium in good condition and some SuperThrive will also help keep their roots fresh and nourished. If your Plumerias awake and thriving, then just continue to water it as normal, supplementing with SuperThrive, Leafdew Plumeria Mist and Hawaiian Super Bloomer. But, do keep a close eye on your Water, Soil and Daylight Analyser as if your Plumerias growth does slow then it's need for water will reduce and you will need to cut back accordingly, to avoid overwatering |
As strange as it may seem, now is an excellent time to consider purchasing Plumeria. Plants bought now and nursed through the winter, will become acclimatized that much quicker, allowing new growth to start that much sooner. Likewise, our Grow To Order Service is an excellent way to have your chosen Plumeria grown by us in our Nursery for you, giving it a real headstart on next years growing season and dramatically increasing the chances of Summer blooming |
